Italian Renaissance-Lise Pierre


·       Ballet began in the Italian Renaissance courts in the 15th century before becoming concert dance in France.

§  Opera/concert music originated in Italy; that is where the musical terms (ex: crescendo etc) are in the Italian language
§  Cardinal (Position in the Church; wore all red, like the bird) Mazarin took an interest in the arts as well Catherine de’ Medici
§  Mazarin served as the Region (or advisor) to King Louis XIV because he was only 3 at the time when King Louis the 13th died and it came his turn to be King.
